Tanya is the youngest of four sisters and knew her entire life that she wanted to help others. On June 12, 1994, Tanya’s life changed forever when her sister, Nicole Brown Simpson was brutally murdered by her famous ex-husband. People began to see Nicole as an icon because if it can happen to her it can happen to anyone. It was later discovered that Nicole had documented 17 years of emotional and physical abuse and secured them in a safety deposit box along with photos of a battered face and body. As a result of these horrific events, Tanya and her family were approached by a local shelter who urged the entire family to educate themselves on this life-threatening epidemic. Now, motivated by the wish to help others, Tanya and her family established The Nicole Brown Foundation which helps to educate the community on recognizing domestic violence.

Tanya has continued in the family’s efforts and has made it her personal Mission and Passion to help prevent more "Nicole's" from happening. Most importantly she wants to make others aware of where it all starts and where they CAN end. She believes that emotional abuse too often goes unrecognized. As a result, Tanya enjoys motivating people to see these beginning signs by traveling across the Nation, speaking to schools, colleges, universities, youth, teens, men, and women on "The Dirty Little Secret" of domestic violence.

Tanya has taken a stance against domestic violence and has taken advantage of many media opportunities to spread the awareness. She has been seen on numerous CNN syndications, television shows, news stations, and has been acknowledged in a variety of newspapers and magazines.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with emphasis in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has completed one year of her Marriage Family Therapy. Her studies have not only earned her a degree, but knowledge that she applies in her life and in her presentations.

Whether it is a tragedy or another life-altering event, there are tools that are critical to self healing. The hard part is this; you must do the work. It all starts with you. The answers are inside you. You must now begin to tell yourself, “today I am going to write down all the things I am grateful for.” It is amazing what happens when we shift our thoughts from negative to positive.

As you all know now from reading my pages, life since Nicole’s murder has been challenging. I had to share my loss with the entire world, going out to places and realizing everyone knows of my sister, and risking losing relationships because of the anger and sadness. But, when you are ready to make the changes within thy self it is amazing how many doors of opportunity open. Since then, I have surrounded myself with positive people, I have a mentor that continually empowers me when called upon, and as a result life has never been better, productive and enlightening.
